Location: Toronto, Canada
Position Type: Full-time leadership role
Start Date: Summer 2025 (School opens September 2025)
Be Part of Something Bigger
Zucker Jewish Academy is launching a new full-time Jewish school in Toronto this fall — and we’re looking for a passionate, organized, energetic Early Childhood Director to help lead it from day one.
This is not just a job. It’s a rare opportunity to shape a new Jewish school from the ground up — with the support of a proven team, clear systems, and a growing national network of Zucker schools (now in 9 cities and counting).
We’re looking for a builder. Someone who sees potential in every child. Who believes that families exploring Jewish education for the first time deserve warmth, quality, and community. And who’s ready to lead a preschool program that’s both academically strong and deeply meaningful.
What You’ll Do
As the Founding Early Childhood Director, you will:
- Lead the launch and daily operations of the Zucker Toronto preschool
- Hire and mentor teachers, create schedules, and oversee classroom environments
- Plan open houses, speak with parents, and help families feel welcomed and supported
- Collaborate with Zucker Central and Toronto staff on curriculum, marketing, and admissions
- Help shape a culture that’s child-centered, growth-oriented, and proudly Jewish
- Oversee regulatory compliance, health and safety, and daily preschool operations
You’ll have ongoing guidance and resources from the Zucker Central leadership team — including access to national training, templates, curriculum support, and a peer network of other Zucker school leaders.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate who is:
- Warm, organized, and energetic — ready to lead, recruit, and build
- Mission-driven — excited to help families connect to Jewish life through education
- A licensed or experienced Early Childhood educator, preferably with leadership experience
- Comfortable running events, speaking with parents, and managing a team
- A team player with strong communication skills and a can-do attitude
- Jewishly committed and values-aligned — religious background required, but sensitivity to diverse family backgrounds is essential
Bonus if you have:
- Experience in school leadership or program coordination
- Hebrew fluency or comfort in Jewish content
- Deep familiarity with the Toronto Jewish community (especially unaffiliated families)
Why Zucker
Zucker Jewish Academy is part of a national initiative to make high-quality, values-driven Jewish education accessible to every family — especially those leaving public school or exploring Jewish school for the first time.
Our schools combine academic excellence, Jewish warmth, and community connection. We currently operate in 8 cities (and growing), and our leaders benefit from shared resources, ongoing coaching, and a strong national mission.
This is a high-energy role — but the right person will be set up for success, support, and deep impact.
